On November 28th, the Made in Rwanda Expo 2018 kicked off! This is a 6 day event with 460 exhibitors showcasing a variety of locally-made products from industries including fashion, publishing, and agriculture. The high number of business represented may be a result of the fact that this is the first year exhibitors were not charged a fee for their stands (a registration fee of 40,000rwf still applied). This platform slightly differs from the annual International Trade Fair, which has a stronger representation of foreign companies and focuses more on exposing local industries to potential national and international investors. It was a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to sell and market their products!

Vocational Sewing Program Assessment

Dec 1, 2018

On Thursday, November 1st, I led the launch an assessment of Africa New Life Ministries’ Vocational Sewing Program. It was an exciting day to learn from the women! My portfolio with the organization includes conducting a mixed methods survey to gather quantitative and qualitative data from 300 program graduates & developing a business plan for the establishment of a textile social enterprise. Previous work with the organization comprised of designing and piloting the assessment, which included developing a questionnaire, creating a guide & facilitating a focus group, and drafting a report. I also presented to the organization’s senior leadership on the topic of textile social entrepreneurship.
